Precisely, they brought in this uniform with no consultation, and didn’t offer the girls any choice whether they found it acceptable or wanted the other shirt (considering anyone with any sort of logic could comprehend the female shirt made the work more uncomfortable).

Yesterday something at work struck me about uniform.
Uniform is used to eliminate socio/economic class, it is made for practicality and to be easily identified as belonging to a school/company. Yet, still, GENDERED uniform is not seen as a problem and, as I witnessed yesterday even encouraged. I saw the most disgusting use of this as the male White shirt was loose and practical (cleaning tables) while the female shirt was very tight-fitting making tasks such as emptying bins uncomfortable/impractical. Why, WHY is this acceptable? Where does GENDERED uniform leave those who identify themselves as trans-gender or not of either gender? Why is it acceptable to enforce a shirt that most of my female colleagues admitted they would not be comfortable wearing? Why is there GENDERED uniform at all? We seek to eliminate distinction between economic class but we positively encourage gender differentiation?!

As I’m unlikely to be travelling Europe as I have done in previous years I’m hoping to travel to various cities/towns in the UK. Does anyone have anywhere they recommend? Places on my list include Newcastle/Liverpool/Bristol/Leicester/Durham/Sheffield/Bath??? Most of these are places I’ve not been hence why london/birmingham/manchester/york aren’t there?
